Legal professionals. Working online.
About Online Wills and Probate
We know what people think when they hear the name, a website, not a person. We’re not that. Online Wills and Probate was founded by Jane Morris-Rowlinson and Phil Izzard, two legal professionals who got tired of watching solicitor fees put good guidance out of reach for ordinary families. What we built keeps the professionals and removes the appointment. You still deal with Phil or Jane directly, whether that’s through the DIY Probate Portal, a call, or a visit to one of our offices.

Our Story
Jane qualified as a solicitor more than 20 years ago and spent much of her career watching families pay thousands of pounds for guidance that, in most cases, didn’t need a solicitor’s hourly rate attached to it. Phil spent his career in FCA-regulated financial services and will writing, watching the same families put off protecting themselves because the process felt intimidating or out of reach. Online Wills and Probate is what happened when the two of them decided to fix both problems at once.
Our Mission
Every family in England and Wales should be able to get solicitor-level guidance on wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney and probate, without a traditional law firm’s overheads attached to it. That’s the reason this business exists, and it’s why every part of the process, online, over a call, or face to face, is built and reviewed by Phil and Jane directly, not outsourced.
Phil Izzard
(Phil The Will)
Will-writing specialist & co-founder, Chief Executive

Phil spent over 20 years in FCA-regulated financial services before specialising in will writing, where he’s now worked with families for more than 15 years. Clients and colleagues know him as Phil the Will™, a name that’s stuck because he’s the one most people speak to first when they’re not sure where to start with a Will or LPA. His approach is plain-spoken rather than legalistic: explain the options clearly, make sure nothing important gets missed, and make the appointment feel like a conversation rather than a form-filling exercise.
Jane Morris-Rowlinson
Probate Solicitor, 20+ years & Co-founder, Chief Operations Officer

Jane qualified as a solicitor more than 20 years ago and has built deep expertise across private client work: Wills, Probate, Estate Administration, Inheritance Tax calculations, Power of Attorney applications and applications to the Court of Protection. Not every year of that career was spent in probate specifically, part of it was in litigation, but it’s given her a breadth of legal judgement that shows in how she built the DIY Probate Portal: designed the way a solicitor would actually do it, not the way a template generator would.
In 2015, Jane was featured in The Sunday Times’ Fortuna 50 list, backing female entrepreneurs, after the solicitors’ firm she co-founded was voted the UK’s fastest-growing female-led business.

EXCELLENT Based on 76 reviews Posted on Google Mellisa RugoiTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Fantastic experience with Phil and team. Only took a couple of hours in total, over a couple of calls. Most of that time was for Phil to explain how everything worked to us, and what our options were, because we haven't died before, so it was all new to us! For such a sensitive and often awkward subject, Phil made us feel very comfortable and really helped to guide us to making the right decisions for our family and situation. Would and have highly recommended to others.Posted on Google Roger BilsonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I was recommended to contact Online Wills and Probate. Which turned out to be a very good choice. With having very little knowledge of the procedure for writing up a will and power of attorney functions. My first session with Phil was very much a questions and answers meeting. He carefully explained the reasons for each element. For me the most informative part of this was the examples of where wills and probate had not been followed correctly. Explaining the implications on your loved ones should you unexpectedly pass away. I felt very comfortable asking questions to fully understand. As a result I agreed to the full recommendation as advised by Phil. I was not put under any pressure to purchase. The decision was made to ensure my family are fully supported. It has been encouraging to hear the company have already spoken to my selected attorneys and the will writing service has been very efficient. I have spoken to friends and family recommending the services Online Wills and Probate can provide.
